Fluval 306 flow


So I finally got my 40b. Now I need to start putting together my other equipment. I wanted to get a canister filter and was looking at the 306 on amazon currently about $120. Anyone know if the flow will be to strong for a female betta? Should I get the 206 instead?

For a 40b? I don't think so, she may hang out opposite of the outflow. Also, you can slow the flow down with this filter

I have a 406 in my 55gal and yeah, it will blow the fins off them! Have had to turn the outflow towards the wall and such to turn and settle it down. Having said that, I LOVE IT!! The filter is low maintenance and my water is gorgeous!

+1 I have a 106 on 9 gals. I turn it up for cleaning and use the lever to adjust slower. Water is super clear. The unit is rated for 3x what my tank is in gallons. I would make it even slower with a betta.

I find the flow of my 206 is barely adequate for my 29gal. I'd steer you toward at least the 306, if not 406.

but I do like the filter otherwise - quality construction, simple design, effective priming pump...
