This is my second planted tank attempt. Tank has been running about a month now and all seems well so far.

A few details about the set up....

Tank - clearseal 30x12x12"
Filtration - Hagen Fluval 206 with Lilly pipes
Lighting - Cheapo light unit with upgraded 2 x 24w T5
Heater - Ehiem Jäger 75w
Substrate - JBL Aquabasis plus with manado cap
Co2 - 2kg pressurised with solenoid reg, full glassware with JBL diffuser
Dosing - EI dosing with 50% weekly water change
Fauna - Lots lol
Flora - Blyxa japonica, pogostemon helferi. I did have hc but that went

I currently run the lights at 6 hours a day and have the co2 kick in 2 hours before this. I've had major bba issues previous to this so I'm trying to be extra cautious with the photoperiod.

Here's a picture of the tank as of yesterday and after w/c and tidy up. Let me know what you think. I'm considering a moss for the wood but not sure. Suggestions welcome!

Here's a tweaked picture. Love editing apps on iPhone lol

Nice tank...really like that driftwood. IMO you should leave the driftwood bare it's to nice to cover up.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I've been in two minds about the wood. I'll maybe leave it. I'm trying to get a carpet established but the corys I have make it difficult to do. I have planted and keep replanting staurogyn repens in the hope that I can make a nice carpet. It's going to be a slow and frustrating process but I'm determined.

Quick update. Added a few more tank mates recently. A group of 5 young amano and 3 albino cory. All are doing well. Plants are growing well but I feel my light unit is too close to them so I'll be making a hanging bracket for it at work as soon as I can. A few pictures ...

Honestly... I don't know. I'm guessing its just java moss. It wasn't actually labelled up. I Bought it locally for £3 I think it was. Waiting for Sunday when I do my weekly water change then I'll be attaching it to the wood.

Thanks very much. I didn't really have a plan when setting it up. Just used up what hardscape I had laying about. I think I need a top for it though. I had an Odessa barb jump last night :-(

So had a delivery of staurogyne Porto velho from a friend on Friday. Got all that split up and planted. Also had a spare hour at work so decided to make a light mount so I can raise the light unit. I'm going to see how it goes with the light as I think it may be too high now lol...

Home made light stand

Planted up stauro

I've also just added a pair of bamboo shrimp. Once they settle and start showing themselves I'll add a few pics.

Here's an updated pic of my tank. Added a frosted background and led backlighting. Looks awesome but camera doesn't really do it justice

First update for a long time. A few little changes but nothing major. Decided to add extra driftwood and some moss. Also added substrate supports to the left corner. It has slipped down a little but kinda worked in keeping it banked up. Had a few issues with BBA so added some floating plants and started dosing flourish excel. Seems to have restricted the outbreak. I've added dwarf hairgrass to try and form a carpet. This is coming along ok and spreading accross the tank. This new picture is just after a major trim so hopefully this will encourage new growth. With my current set up I am dosing the excel as mentioned earlier and also EI dose. Co2 is about 2bps. The plants seem to grow pretty well but still I never seem to get any pearling. In my smaller spec I had pearling but nothing in this one. Just wondering if anyone knows why? I'd like to achieve this at some point haha.

Anyway here's the tank as it stands today
