Has anyone used the Finnex 30inch LED Daylight?

I was thinking of using it for my 29 gallon planted tank, but I have never used LEDs before. I don't really know much about them for plants. What type of lighting with this thing give me on a 29 gallon tank? Would I be able to grow carpeting plants?

Thanks.

FugeRay or Ray 2?

by Daylight I assume you mean dual 7k ray 2. I have one on my 37 gallon and along with an aqueon modular 30 inch with 3 led bulbs I am in upper medium.

I fear that 29 gallon is the inbetween for the fugeray (good for 20L) and ray2. I believe you should be in the lower part of medium light at substrate.

I have the 30" (cut down to a 28") Fugeray on my 30gal. Pretty freaking brilliant if you ask me.

From what I have read, I should be somewhere in the middle of being considered Medium Light. A Ray 2 would easily be the high end of medium, and capable of growing anything and everything well IMHO. Although at that point I think you pretty much have no choice but to invest in a decent CO2 setup.

I think with a Ray 2 you could diffuse it if you are getting algae, or liquid CO2 just fine.

I have a decent amount of plants and OD some metricide just fine.

I had tried the ray 2 on the edges of the tank just over the glass for a few weeks but just a couple of days ago put the legs back on to raise it a few inches.

I was thinking of going with the ray 2.

I would be using dirt substrate and diy co2. I was hoping to grow a dwarf hairgrass carpet. How well would it grow in these conditions?

Thanks.

I used the 30" on my 20L and it worked like a charm. I think on a 29g you would want to go with the Ray II and diffuse it somehow if its too much light and you aren't using CO2.

Any other thoughts on this light? Would there be a better option for a 29 gallon tank for what I am trying to do?

I have 2 36 inch ray2 on my 125gallon. Great lights. I'm getting good growth on everything in the tank. Several different crypts, swords, teardrop rotilla, 3 types of moss, jungal vail. I am very happy with them.

I've got the ray2 on my 29 heavily planted and it grows just enough algae to keep my snails happy.
