So what the perfect planted tank size?

So after being so unhappy with my current tank for several months now and really never got it up and running. Wife is allowing me to have a custom tank built. It going to be something we both work on and she wants to be involved.

So we have it narrowed down to a few tanks.

180 (72 x 24 x 25 Tall)

or

240 (96 x 24 x 25 Tall)

Almost same at this point, other than the 240 2 feet longer. We have room for either one, but I am thinking the 180, mostly since it not so long.

Both would be setup with 2 overflows, sump, along with oak stand/canopy. No more dealing with stuff in the tank and canisters.

Looking at custom made sump around 65 gallons either way.

Only looking at about 300 in price between the 2 setups. Does not include plants, lights, so on.

What do you guys think?

Think how it will look in its spot. My 6' 180 looks better on the 10' wall than the 8' 180 gallon tank. I really loved the 4:1 aspect of the 8' tank though. The 6' one looks squatty in comparison.

Lucky! Are you planning to stock with zoomy schoolers or bigger fish?

If it were me it would depend on how difficult maintenance would be, mainly water changes. 240 gal would be awesome, but for a tank that large I would want a sink near by to just be able to run a hose direct from the faucet.
