API Leaf Zone causing erroneous nitrite readings?

I just had my water tested at a Petco Saturday, no nitrites, under .25ppm ammonia, 40 nitrates.

Tuesday I added some API Leaf Zone. I got my API Master Test Kit in today and decided to give it a try. Everything the same, except nitrite was reading anywhere from 2ppm to 5ppm. IMO it was reading 5ppm. Don't know why they have such a large difference so close together and so close in colors.

Has anyone seen this happen before with API Leaf Zone? I have seen it twice before with test strips, but I thought it was just a flaw with the test strips.
