WOW! Snail hotel canister filter!!

In shock right now. Have had some baby snails in my tank of late which is a bit odd. Haven't added any new plants in a month or so, and thought I got all those out.

Just got back from vacation, figured Id clean the canister. Popped open the top and BAM!!!! Tons of egg sacks and snails!! I can't believe it!

Now the question.... errrr those damn sacks were built to last. I'm worried about my lines going in and out of canister as well as possibly needing to replace ALL of my media. What do you guys think? I have a sponge filter in tank that should contain a lot of beneficial bacteria, and I could probably rinse the bio rings in filter well enough to get rid of all snails.

Assassin snails. They murder snails. As long as you don't have any snails you want to live.

Have nerites, but not to worried about snails in the actual tank at the moment. It's the ones breeding in the filter that i want out.

Throw just one assassin in the canister so it can't reproduce or get out. Give it 3 months tops. You will never see another snail again.
