Another question, what wattage is the heater that you use? Also do you know where I can get a fan like that? Thanks!

Hey bacon,
I believe I got an Aqueon heatet that is rated for a 30 gallon tank. The fan I got from Walmart. Its just a standard 6" clip on fan.

It is a Marimo ball, but it is not on SS mesh. I just opened it up and flattened it out. It forms a dome like cover for the shrimp.

Do you use RO water or 50/50 of RO and Tap ? does your CBS get any losing the white body part at all? I see one or two of your losing it right?

I use RO/DI water with a Gh+ booster. I don't use any tap in that tank. Yes on or two of them will loose the white. But then they always whiten up again

Thanks,

I am very happy the way it is turning out. You do learn from the mistakes that are made in this hobby. I have to do a water change soon, I just think I am going to set my alarm and do it at 1 in the morning. The temps in California are already above 90F.

WoW…
Is it me, or do CBS mature much slower than other species of shrimp? I have not seen a single molt since I got them. Maybe they molt under all the moss. I thought I would have some berried shrimp by now. My next step is to wait until the weather cools down by the end of summer to order another package of CBS and PLB. Hopefully by the holiday season I will have a nice size colony going strong.

Last night I feed some organic barley pellets and they loved it.

Hello everyone,
Time for an update. I have some good news. 2 days ago I noticed that all the males where flying around the tank bumping into everything. I was looking for a swollen female and bingo. The next day this is what I found. I am so excited I can’t even tell you guys. So in about 20 – 25 days (hoping) there should be little black and white spec grazing around. I will let you know.

awesome! and to answer your question about the growth of CBS... I find mine take the longest to grow out of all my shrimps.
