Quick new guy question

I've got everything planted and I'm getting ready to fill my tank...my question is can I fill it with tap water and then add prime or do I need to add prime to buckets and then add that to the tank?

Thanks guys.

Filling your tank for the first time, its okay to just add water directly into the tank then add prime later. This way the chlorine will clean your tank. In future, add prime into buckets first.

I add the water with a hose, and add the prime during the first part of the filling, whether it's the first filling or at a water change.

Also the slower you add the water, depending on your substrate, it will be less cloudy one filled.

I haven't used buckets since I realized what a PITA (Pain in the posterior) they are for a 55g. It was fine for the 20g.

Water goes out through a valve right through the window, new water comes in through the garden hose. I add enough Aquasafe to treat the entire tank, not just the replacement water.
