Best place to buy T5HO bulbs

Hey guys, Im sure there have been a million threads, I found one from 2009 on this forum but wanted an update.

I bought this maybe 6 months ago:
http://www.aquatraders.com/48-inch-4...re-p/52305.htm

and got all 6400k bulbs. I have a 45 gal long tank. It seems that they are garbage. My aromatica Ive had for a year was slightly yellow and purple underside with 4 T8 shoplight bulbs. With my new t5ho bulbs they have been green. Im growing DHG and other high light plants but the reds are not coming on my aromatica and a few other plants. So Im wondering that my bulbs suck. Ive been EI dosing like crazy that Ive been getting algae problems (Ive been EI dosing for over a year now). Ive converted from mist co2 to diy co2 reactor. And all this time my aromatica did not flinch in colour. So my last effort is to change the bulbs and see.

I want to know where can I order (ship to US), that has the best/cheapest price for a bulb that does its job? Would 6400k and 10,000k bulbs grow just fine? I want reds on my plants and a different colour than just boring blue. My fixture is 48" Odyssea.

Thanks

giesemann bulbs come highly recommended. i have heard bulbs can make a world of difference. fosters and smith and aquacave sell them so double check them for best price.

Thanks for the suggestion . For 2 bulbs, total is coming out to be $50. Thats half the price of my fixture. I was hoping for cheaper bulbs.

Just checked this thread out
http://reefcentral.com/forums//showthread.php?t=2115939

I think I need to research more, I was hoping to hear from people which usually provide better info, suggestions.

Im eyeing GE bulbs. They are $10 a piece and people seem to have a positive experience with it.

Unfortunately I Dont think anyone has measured par differences between bulbs but best believe there are some. My local club member has a par meter and he added these bulbs I suggested and it increased par. I can't remember the old bulbs or how big the increase was.

One thing I can say is I love the pink bulbs. They make everything pop much more then 6500k. I from now on will always have a pink with 6500k.

also not having a high post count means nothing. that being said im deff no expert on this subject lol.

I didnt even look at his name or post count, but I have read in many places that although alot of people use it, its overpriced. I think Im going to try the GE, but hoping more people would chime in.

yeah i totally agree that more responses are always better. how you said it was kinda funny.

sometimes you actually do get what you pay for.

if you have higher light then you need im sure the ge bulbs are fine. if your in between med and high light deff get the nicer bulbs if you want as much light as possible.

Yea atm I have 4 x 54 watt bulbs over my 45 gal, which is overkill. They are resting on the tank, not hung over the tank. Light is from corner to corner, atleast visually it looks like it. Im fine with it since I have low light plants on the ends.

As for what you pay for, I agree. But I want to know where it goes from "best bang for the buck" to "rip off" pricing. I think I will settle with the ge. But it will be some time before I do make the final decision.

Thanks for replying, always looking for more.

the big box stores around here don't sell the starcoats. i ordered them online, but can't remember from whom. they are good bulbs in terms of par; aesthetically, a bit yellowish/greenish, but acceptable.
