What to stock my 10 gallon Planted Tank with?

Hey guys!

So recently I picked up a female german blue ram and she has been doing well and I also have 2 harlequin rasboras in the tank with her. I used to have 4 in this tank but now I am down too 2. One may have passed during cycling and this last one had an injury on his tail somehow.

So I'm planning on getting rid of the rasboras and trying some other type of fish. What do you guys reccomend? Maybe something different than the ordinary neon tetras? Any cool fish you would recommend? I was thinking that Celestial Pearl Danios might be cool, but they are pretty pricey and I may not want to spend around $7 per fish.

Thanks for the help and suggestions!

White Cloud Minnows! I picked up a few last year and I love them, one of the most enjoyable fish I've ever had and almost impossible to kill. They bread readily, keep well with other fish and they are small enough to keep a decent school in a ten gallon.

White clouds are great, but they don't like the higher temp that the ram needs.

Well, cherry barbs are real cool, but so is a breeding pair of GBR....

Brevibora dorsiocellata a.k.a eyespot rasbora would look cool, and I think that any fish that is around one inch would be ok
seriouslyfish.com is a good place to go if you have any questions about a fish{temperament, diet, size, ect.}
I keep my female ram with flame tetras at the moment but she has been kept with some of the most popular fish in the hobby with no problems.

I might recommend 3 otos. Its what I have in my planted 10 gallon, and I love the little fellows. I've found them to be surprisingly active, swimming about the tank and occasionally stopping to munch on a patch of algae or slice of zucchini. There are several species with some unique looking color patterns.

I don't know about GBR, but I do have white clouds. I looked at the fish profile for both using the link at the top of the page, and they do have an overlapping temp range. The GBR has a really narrow range and the WCMM have a wider range, but temperature wise, they would seem compatible. The WCMM would be living in the top degrees of their recommended temp range.

I love my WCMM. They are neat little fish, they school nicely. I have the goldens, but there is also a longfin version that I am interested in.

Since it appears your GBR has a really narrow range of acceptable temperatures, I'd look for fish that overlap that requirement.

Shrimp, otos. There isn't much you can keep in a 10g in the long term, even though people never get tired of trying. GBRs really like it warm (79°+), and there aren't many fish that like those temperature and will do okay in a small tank AND will get along with the ram. You could try a peaceful killifish species or maybe a goby if there are any that like warmer temps. Some guppies would work to and fill the space near the surface nicely.
