Default Dry Ferts - How much to get and of what

I use pps pro system and I get my ferts from green leaf aquarium. They sell you the set you need to follow that dosing regime for about $30 shipped.

It has lasted me like 2 years and I have given away a lot.

Is your tank co2 or non co2?

PPS sounds like a much better plan over eI. They don't ship to canada but ill pick up the frets here (slightly more expensive) and follow their guide. Thanks for the info

Does the pps pro system have to be a daily dose can be adjusted to a weekly dose? Since I don't have the disciple to do daily doses.

Yeah, you can dose daily or 7times more once a week. It doesn't matter if you do it every day or forget and then dose what you owe.

No problem if you go on vacations. Just dose more.

I mixed the micros and macros in two 500ml bottles and I keep two small bottles with dropper right by the tank. Seems that I take better care of the tank if I have to do something daily.

EI is an excellent system, I use it when there may be a problem and I want to rule out lack of ferts (law of the minimum). But I think PPSpro is enough for low light nonco2 tanks.

Mine is medium light non co2. I just orders 3x dosing pump motors. I'm have been debating what to build as a way to learn arduino so an automated daily dosing projects seems to for perfectly. I ordered 3 pumps so pps pro will work perfectly with it. 2 mixes plus metracide.

I have high light with pressurized Co2 system so what I am understood is pps pro is better for high light and if my daily dose is 2g kno3 I would dose 14g (=7x2)weekly. I think pps pro is better for me since I hate water changes I do them once every three or two week, rarely once a month (depends if am busy).

Is it okay to dose my macros and then micros into my tank or should I wait an hour or so?

Both systems are good, it's just different approaches. You don't need to do the weekly 50% with EI, just dose less.

It takes liquid fertilizer and pumps it into the aquarium (or some other destination).

You can look up "peristaltic pumps" - these are the most common dosing pumps that are used.

With most commercial units, you can program a set time/date into them and have them dose your liquid fertilizers, much like an automatic feeder.

Sorry to bother you but can you give elaborate more. :what:

What I know 50% ferts with EL is dosing 10 ppm K out of the 10-20ppm range and this is for low light, while I have high lights.

Sorry I meant: you don't need to do the weekly 50% WATER CHANGE with EI.

The weekly water change just makes it easier, it resets your levels.

If you want to dose only what the tank needs, it's easy to figure that out too.

However, with low light...

No need for hassle with all this, the dosing pumps are a real overkill. Remember that you need to shake the bottle of premixed fertilized before adding it to the tank, specially CSM-b

Shaking the bottles may hurt my auto dosser project! I will just have to remember to do it every few days... Do the ferts not fully dissolve? I wonder if mixing them in hot water would fix that...

I forget to dose metricide 14 half the time so i think an auto dosser will be a nice touch.

As long as you do not try to make too concentrated of a solution, the fertilizers will not precipitate.

If you attempt to dissolve them in hot water first, upon cooling, the excess solute may precipitate out of solution.

That is a good solution for the solution!

Double the amount of water so its half the concentration, therefore inject double the amount.
