$100 to spend

Ok, more advice for me please. I have roughly $100 to spend on my tank and I'd like to know my best option. It's a 29 gallon with an Aquaticlife t5 dual lamp sitting above(24 watts? I forget, I'm not home, but it's the bulbs that come with it). Should I
A)get another set of these lights so I have 4?
B)buy a small pressurized co2 setup
C)buy a set of LED lights for 29 gallon and move my current T5's over to my 20 long tank and start growing plants in it

Thanks in advance

Save the $100 and buy a quality co2 rig down the line. Increased lighting will likely just give you an algae farm, get a good high quality co2 setup, then better lights, then start dosing.

Would I need a high quality co2 rig for such a small tank? And running only 2 t5's on it?

+ 1

I would save and wait. I know it sucks to wait but in the end you'll be happier.

Because if you buy a low quality one now, somewhere down the line you're going to be buying another because yours broke. There is a reason why some regulators are cheap, they're made poorly and perform poorly. Save your money and buy something worth having. I use a $250 rig on a 5g tank, the cost of a regulator does not determine what size of a tank it can supply, rather it just denotes the quality and reliability which it will give you.

Ok, that makes perfect sense to me. I'll hold off on the co2.
Now if I were to buy another set of t5's for my 29 gallon, I would probably NEED co2? Am I understanding that correctly? Or would my daily dosing of excel be enough to handle that much light?

I have co2 on my 55g and am only using 2 t5 bulbs but they are also sitting on the tank frame. I agree to saving and getting the quality regulator. If you want to spend the $100, buy your co2 tank. Thats what my 5lb bottle cost.

All of your options will require you to invest more money in the future...
Regardless of your intentions, I agree that you should save it.

I would save your money and buy a nice pressurized Co2 rig.

As a tip, instead of getting a new 5lb Co2 cylinder, you can probably grab one of ebay for 50-60 shipped; I got mine, a nearly new aluminum 5lb for 55 shipped.

+1 to that! One of the main reasons I enjoy this forum is that you can ask questions that may seem obvious to the experienced and they still offer a respectful answer!

I had my pateince tested and it paid off. Got a custom built reg and 10lb Co2 rig for $75 from a local club member. Hold out, keep your eyes peeled, join the local clubs and monitor the For Sale section on these types of forums.

Good luck pal
