Eheim 2213 media question

I have never had a canister before, what sort of media do I need for my 2213?

Thanks in advance!

I believe they come with their own media in the box brand new.

They generally do come with media new. But you can put whatever you want in there. Mine is ceramic noodles on bottom, then coarse sponge, then ceramic bio media, then filter floss, then puritan.

I'd remove the carbon, and replace it with a bio-media. Mechanical, and biological is all you need. Carbon will just take away from that full potential. If it dosnt come with the media i'd go with pillow stuffing or filter pad for mechanical, and matrix for biological.

2213 coems with 2 types of bio media and only a carbon filter pad. You wont need to purchase anything.

In my 2213 I use Ehfimech ceramic media in the bottom, coarse sponges, fine sponges, filter floss, topped with a bag of Purigen.

Good info folks, this is what I think might work. let me know what you think.

EHEIM SUBSTRAT Pro
EHEIM EHFIMECH Ceramic Pre-Filter Media

along with a set of fine and coarse pads.

Do I need to add cermaic rings besides the EHFIMECH?

If your filter doesn't come with media, I would get matrix instead.

No, along with the bio balls, the ceramic noodles, the coarse and fine white pad, you're set to go. I think eheim now sells the media with all its classic canister setups.
