I found some strange device....ozonizer?

Hi. I was at my parents' house and I took a peek inside my old room's closets. I found some strange device called an ozonizer...I think I purchased a fish tank on Craigslist some time ago and this came with it. It's missing the power ac plug but it seems to be a standard one. Has some type of probe too. Assuming this works, how would I go about getting rid of it?

Some pics.

Do you have a garbage can with room in it? You could try lifting the lid and dropping this in to see if that solves the problem.

Sometimes people will cut off the power plug to an electrical device to prevent anyone from plugging it in and causing some undesired thing to happen - like sparks, smoke, etc. I always prefer the garbage can solution.

http://www.marinedepot.com/uv_ultrav...uazone-ap.html It looks to me like this is an invention looking for a problem, but maybe someone has found these to be a benefit.

For those interested in what this device does (did), this article pretty much explains the whole Ozone/ORP process.

Just looking at the pics, I wouldn't buy it or use it if given free. It most definitely would need a new probe and the old versions of those got hot sometimes. With the cord sheared off the device is probably fried as mentioned above.

Cool. Good to know.

The cord was not cut. It's just a plug in cord but I can't seem to find it.

The ORP electrode looks like it would be dead to me.
