ghetto lighting w/16gal

Howdy -

I have a 16gallon tank that I recently populated with an amazon sword, java ferns, banana plants, corkscrew val, red rubin (i think) and some grass-like looking plant. After reading the forum posts I got all excited about making my tank look as titz as the ones in the gallery- so I went out and bought the Hagen CO2 system but could not find a bulb with the proper wattage suggested (2-3wpg?). After getting paranoid about my precious plants not getting enough light, I decided to put a GE 60watt A/PL blub behind the tank to help the existing lighting*. Will this help @ all without any negative effects on the plants/fishes?

*existing lighting is a 18" 15watt bulb (some fancy-smanchy $18 'plant bulb' the dude @ PetSmart suckered me into buying).

I do a 15-20% water change twice a week. PH has dropped to 6.6-6.8 since the CO2 system kicked in. Is this alright?

Fishload: 4 cory cats, ~13 neons, 2 dwarf gauramis, 2 plecos and 3 snails (not sure what kind).

um i really doubt that ,that is good. kthe hBLAST of light sure looksk like it would scare your fish and its only in one spot

If it does anything it will make the plants grow sideways and not straight up.

hmm.. ok. I'll try to get a better overhead light asap. this was only a temporary thing that I thought *might* help more than it'll harm.
