Periods and exclamation points

First off I have been a shrimp owner for less then a week now. I've had two molts so far and second just watched my fire red cherry just give birth. As cool as this is I have two or maybe 3 other micro organisms in the tank as well.

The first I will call a period. Tiny slow moving dots that are making their way around the glass.

The second are more like the line in the exclamation point more worm like that are inching around.

I think it's kinda cool to see these in the tank but do they pose any risks to shrimp?

Don't remember the names of these organisms, but they come from over feeding and they won't hurt anything in the tank.

Default Periods and exclamation points

That's weird cause I've only fed this tank one single time and pulled the food out in a tray after feeding.

As long as its harmless I'm ok with em

Exclamation mark is nematode, harmless.Slow moving dots could be copepods/seed shrimp. Sometimes they happen from overfeeding but more often than not they come just from the substrate itself or new plants/decor introduced into the tank (or old plants for that matter...anything put in your tank can carry eggs of these fauna)

It's kinda cool all the creatures you see when there aren't any fish to eat them. I have both sees shrimp and the white worms in my tank my shrimp are doing great. Good luck with your shrimp if your like me they will become you favorites.

I have Copepods in a couple of my tanks. With a light behind the tank you can see a few skittering around the glass. So far nothing else though *knock on wood*
