ideas for equipment needed

hello all,

i am just starting out in the planted tank world. i was wondering if i need anything else as far as equipment goes.this is for a 75g tank that id like to plant heavily.

currently this is what i will be using:

Catalina solar 3x54wt t-5

co2 system with a American marine pinpoint regulator with solenoid and bubble counter, American marine pinpoint ph controller and a difusser with a 10lb tank

ehiem 2075 canister filter and a ehiem 2217 or emperor 400. do you suggest using surface skimmers?

ebo-jager 250w heater

this is going to be a planted discus tank so if you can think of anything else i may need please feel free to let me know

fertilizers?
substrate?

discus like warm water so if your room is cold make sure you have strong heaters maybe even 2.

i just got my catalina fixture and they are very nice. did you get a grow bulb? they really make everything pop.

i would not get a skimmer until you find out if you need one. usually running a few airstones at night will keep it clean. i run my airstones 24/7 but i know some frown on this

i think you have it mostly covered.

yes you will have to dose the water every day with that high light setup. you will deff want to invest in some dry fertilizers.

here is a link explaining dosing and how much to dose.
http://www.aquascapingworld.com/maga...on-Method.html

here is a link to buy dry ferts
http://greenleafaquariums.com/aquari...rtilizers.html

you will want test kits for...
nitrate
phosphorus
iron but not really necessary

potassium can be measured just by watching the plants if they are getting holes or yellowing leaves then add more potassium.

the eco complete has basically no nutrients. it dose have a good size so the fertilizers you dose into the water can make it to the roots.

hope this helped.
