preventing spillover

hey guys/gals

wondering if there is something I can do to my custom light canopy to reduce spillover. I have made a backlight system behind the aquarium but the spillover is masking the effect and just looks like the light is blending together. In front of the aquarium it's not blinding by any means looking at or up to the aquarium, however the whole room seems lit with no lights on.

I have a 48" T5HO quad light 12" above a 75g and the canopy is 8" deep thinking that would reduce the amount of light spilling over, but nope. So is there reflective tape or something I can line the inside of the canopy to prevent this?

thank you

Apparently not.

Is the backlight boxed at the top? Maybe that would work? Keep tank lighting from going on the wall behind the actual tank anyway.

I would think it would take a special reflector design to get all the light to focus down. Light bulb moment [haha] - eggcrate is designed to do exactly that!!!!

My room is lit with the tank lights, might as well get as much out of the 300 watts as we can. Since it hits the wall behind the tank it isn't obnoxious.
