http://www.fishforums.net/aquarium-calculator.htm

that might help some.

I didn't know what the concentration of my ammonia was, so I added a tiny bit to a 5 gallon bucket, and did an ammonia test. After that, I was able to make an estimate of how much of my ammonia solution I would have to add to get a 1ppm increase per gallon. I did a couple similar measurements with varying amounts to verify this estimate.

Then I scaled up for my actual tank volume. - Intentionally under-dose, and test, just to verify. After a few of these dose-verification cycles, if you are comfortable/confident, you can just add what you need.

I had a syringe I was using that made fairly accurate measurements pretty quick and easy. Otherwise, a standard cooking measurement teaspoon is about 5 ml

Its been awhile seen I have done one but if my mind serves me right its 3-5 ppm. You will need a test kit to check your levels. Also turn up the temperature to the upper 80s to help speed up the process.

Im doing my f/c right now. 50 gallons of water. 5ml of 10% ammonia (ace hardware janitorial strength ammonia) equals 2ppm ammonia. What size is your tank? Start out with 1ml per 10 gallons and then test a hour later just to fine tune your measurements. My tank is 55painted gallons but you need to subtract for the space substrate takes up, and then try to figure in the water in your canister filter( if thats what you are using).
