Help for a newbie

Overall I am very pleased with my 6 week old 75 gallon tank, but have a few questions. First the fish seem to love my moneywart.. All leaves are gone. any chance it will come back out.should I pull the stems? Second in the attached picture the
foreground plant has never done anything but get covered in algae.. Anything I can do to get it growing? I am using co2 and so far no fertilizer.

Thanks.

Unless you remove the fish, you can probably pull the stems - any new leaves will be nibbled off. Unless the leaves were falling off anyway and it the fish got them when they were dying.

Regarding the foreground plant, this is how they look when they don't grow. How long have you had it? Sometimes it takes a while for them to get established, then they start to spread. Other times, a plant absolutely hates the conditions and won't grow no matter what. Fortunately, there are many plants available that will.

With the plants being covered by algae you might just be adding to the problem by giving them fertilizer which the plants will have a tougher time using than the algae.

I would pull the algae covered stuff out and get some new plants; with a gravel grunge job/water change and add ferts. The new plants have the best case of being able to use them before more algae can get a hold of them.
