Daughter's Tank, Threadfins and Rams- Updated 7/21/13

I am setting up a 20L tank for my almost 4 year old daughter. She turns 4 at the end of this month but will be in India until July 8th.

So this will be a planted low tech tank. And it will be foolish to most of you, fun for others and a gift for my daughter

Pics to follow....

Default Birthday

My birthday is July 8th! LOL!
on the serious side tho, I don't think a 4 year old should have her own tank.
My 2 penny's,

Our first tank was purchased for my 3 (now 4) year old. He loves his tank. And we've grown to 4 tanks. It's great to see our tanks through his eyes.

My 4 year old daughter has her own tank (20 gallon)! She does water change with me and she gets to count the shrimps and she doesn't want any fish in there because she doesn't want the baby shrimps to be eaten! It is doable!

First fill with just the hardscape in place.

I'm thinking I need to scrape off the back paint an d go with more of a bright pink.

I would try some silk fabric. Then it would be easy to change if she wants a different color. I just tape it on a board (construction paper) and tape the board to the tank with Gorilla tape.

fabric sounds like a really neat idea, I might go that route if I decide to scrape it off

I think this is a cute idea. Should look really neat with some plants in there

awesome work, lucky to have parents like you!

my little girl, who is 4 also, has become my best little helper with the fish tanks.

thanks for all the support. put the mgopm and capped it tues night. tank looks like a disaster. have to see how it settles by morning then do a few water changes and plant the next couple of days.

light and filter arrived today, so that is good.

I'm thinking to add some snails on friday and maybe 6-12 rcs on sunday. no feeding for a week or so, i'm sure the plants and bits of mgopm still left floating around will give them enough food for now.
