12g Long wip

had this tank empty for way too long now. as the stand is almost complete, figured it would be time to get the ball rolling on a journal. still a ways before it see's any water. theme is either going to be a planted shrimp, or a nano reef (yaya i know).

Tank: Mr Aqua 12g long (tempered base version)

Equip: -filter undecided (depends on theme)
-lights undecided also depends on what goes in likely T5HO or LED
-have half a bag of ADA powder and full bag of stratum.
-have a unopened bag of caribsea LS and reef crystals
-DIY stand 40"tall
-arbutus wood

Plants: undecided
Fauna: undecided

Feel free to sway my decision making regarding planted or reef, obviously gonna catch some flak if it goes reef haha

thanks! if i recall right yours is not too shabby either! might have to anchor mine to a wall as well, i believe i had asked you at one point about the tippy-ness factor. hard to do with these dimensions, mine ended up about 40" tall.....

Wow that's tall! Mine is 36" x 36" so it looks like a square lol. What is your floor? Hard surface or carpet?

it is. built it 37"x37" but the added toe kick adds the height. it may be removed. floor is thankfully hard surface. but for peace of mind it may get anchored to a wall. fairly sturdy as is though.

Love the stand. I think either a shrimp tank or nano reef would look great. I personally have no interest in saltwater but they look so much cooler in a tank like this.

I just recently set up my 12G Long Mr Aqua as well. I went with a ZooMed 501 Turtle Canister filter and it's amazing. Nice and compact, very quiet, decent room for media and is rated for 30 gal turtle tank (half filled so 15 gal of water). The flow is medium to high depending on how you pack your media and after you cut an inch off the spray bar it fits perfectly width wise. Would def recommend a look if your still in the market for filter. I picked mine up for $40 so for a canister couldn't go wrong.

Can't believe my last post on this was over a year ago, haven't been around much but had a free day today to get off my lazy butt and half arse scape it and plant, filling as I type, was gonna go DSM but decided against. Just using stuff I have on hand, plants, extra filter, light etc. still lots of loose ends to wrap up. Found the rocks for the hard scape in the backyard.... Lol
