Hi Members: I am setting up a 20 gallon
(low) tank for fancy guppies once again after about 20 years. In the past I always planted watersprite. Now living in Florida. I am having trouble finding watersprite. Any leads and info will be helpful. Checking several fish stores I see a lot of artificial plants and not many live ones. What is going on? Thanks or (tanks) Charlie |

Since you live in Florida, you got options. Try an online store such as this one, and keep looking at the stores where you live. You might have to drive a while, but I would hope that somebody down there has plants. Also, depending if it is legal or not, you could try just going somewhere and getting some out of a pond..though I'm not sure if you'd get in trouble for taking it from the wild, even though it is non-native.

Hi knottyer77 and welcome.
Before I say anything let me suggest that if Gdominy doesn't reply soon you send him an U2U. He keeps watersprite in a lot of his tanks which could all almost be considered low tech. He doesn't inject CO2 and doesn't have very high light levels either. try looking for local privately owned fish stores rather than big chains. They will more than likely have live plants. However Petsmart I think has a pretty big plant section so you might want to check them out. Have you ever thought of ordering online? This is an excellent option and sometimes cheaper than buying from your LFS. Here are some links I found for you: Water Sprite at Floridadriftwood.com Water Sprite at petsolutions.com Water Sprite at AZgardens.com To find water sprite at AZgardens scroll down to Miscellaneous plants and water sprite is under there. Hope this helps!! ![]() Kyle

Heh, If I wasnt in Canada I could have sent you more watersprite then you'd know what to do with.
I just pruned enough Water Sprite to fill a 5 gallon bucket out of my tanks. I donated it to my favorite local fish store (they now have water sprite in every one of their tanks) I don't see Water Sprite too often where I am so I keep some around "just in case" someone needs it. If I were you, I would find a good LFS that you can trust (small mom and pop places are good) and ask if they can order plants directly from Tropica, or from a tropica distributor in the US. The water Sprite I purchased from Tropica was fantastic and is still growing like crazy. |
