Question about Betta Scales missing

This is my new little buddy!

But I noticed ok the top of his head he has some scales that are colorless or missing? Any ideas what causes that?

i have a few dragon scale plakats exhibiting the darkened or missing scales above the forehead. one had eventually had the colored scales grown in while this sibling still has a few missing. I think this is normal and is relative to the genes of their parents.

Thats normal for Dragon Scale colored bettas. The scales aren't missing, they're just dark colored

Yup, its colourless (well, its black..just not blue)... bettas commonly have black faces, its rarer to have a fully coloured face.
