So I see that you can buy some decent plants at Petco from pots (and Win, Pacific), are there any other stores that sell these types of plants? Just got into the hobby so a little new to the freshwater game (previously just kept reefs).

Looking mainly in Midtwown/Downtown Manhnattan. I was at Petco in Kips Bay the other day (near my apartment) and the selection made me sad.

Post a WTB thread in the NY subforum. A lot of the users here would be eager to hook you up with some plants.

@melanotaenia

I just trimmed and packed 3 quart bags of plants to swap tomorrow. What type of plants are of interest?

In Manhattan that is about all....at least all that is worth checking out. In Brooklyn or Queens there will be many other smaller mom/pop stores but nothing will compare in selection to Pacific.

Cool. I am in need of some Echinodorus tenellus to fill out the rear of my tank; not a rare plant, but hard to find good specimens sometimes.

Thanks everyone!

yes, i coveted those mango's as well... but with most of Fishtown's stock... you better wait a week or so just in case.

Stopped by Zoo-Rama Pets and Aquarium in Elmont earlier today. Nice, small store. They have plenty of healthy angels, rainbowfish, killies, and other assorted fish. The store also has a nice breeding population of pure black guppies. They have a nice selection of healthy, low light plants such as potted crypts, swords, java ferns, enormous anubias, mosses, and others. They also have some nice looking bettas, with some elephant ears, dragonscales, and plakats.

The larger angels (koi, veiltail) were $24-28. The smaller silver angels were $13. I'll double check tomorrow.

Dan, let me know if you think the plakat bettas are better quality than what Win has. Also did this place have female plakats?
