No you were right, those are from the aquaclear lol. I moved the pump to the front of the tank so it avoids the filter's flow now. I'm finally seeing an Increase in my KH which is at about 3dh with pH around 6.75. Everything is stable and I'm getting some great growth.

I did however read your post about trimming grasses/swords and that they won't grow back but shoot new stems instead and I had made that mistake with my Jungle Val. It's taking longer than I'd like for those to grow back in but once they do, the tank will look much better.

So the more I look at my tank, the more the left side bugs me. I think the large slope on the right side makes that side more appealing. The back left has a lot of Jungle Val that's hard to see because I trimmed it way down to promote fresh growth. I'm hoping when that fills in, it will even out the scape but I'd like to get some suggestions from you guys in regards to any hard scape items I should move/add or plants to add possibly?

Note: I do plan on carpeting the front with DHG but I'm thinking maybe some mid ground plants for the space in front of my Ludwigia Repens might help.

Thanks for any help!

Got the wood in the tank, I'm pleased with the end result. Now I'm just desperate for my Jungle Val to grow to fill the back corner.Click image for larger version

Got some better shots of the tank and driftwood. I also acquired 1 red painted swordtail (mail) and 3 velvet red swords (female) today. They are great fish so far.

Great growth so far but I'm getting what I believe to be a GSA bloom on some plants. So frustrating.

Very nice tank, I like it a lot! 40B's were always my dream tank when I was into reefing.

Thank you! I haven't even scratched the surface with reef tanks, I bet 40B's would be awesome though.

Took a few decent shots of one of my Otos and a shrimp. I think it's RCS? Not sure, it tagged along in the tank that I purchased.

I somehow lucked out and won a fantastic RAOK from username "Newman", a whole bunch of Taiwan Moss and a plethora of Pygmy Chain Swords. The shipment came in today and I managed to fit time in to put them in the tank between writing a paper tonight and took a few shots:
I used 6 lb test fishing line to tie all of the moss to my driftwood

The pygmy chains are on the left side of this photo. I'm hoping I have enough light to keep them short and have them shoot runners toward the front but I highly doubt it will happen.

And last but not least, a few close ups of the moss

Can't wait for the moss to fill in, in theory it should look great. I'm also hoping the chain swords will sprout some new growth and become a little more "uniform" rather than sporadically spread out leaves. I like the natural look but it's a bit too wild for me right now.

It was initially red Floramax by itself but I sprinkled some of my standard pebbles from my 10 gallon on top so my kuhlis wouldn't hurt themselves while scavenging.

My tank seems to be doing very well. Parameters are stable and the guppies are popping out fry left and right. Even better, I caught my Otos in their "T" position that indicates them breeding as well. Along with that, I picked up a pair of GBR's that were already mated at my LFS and I watched them finish laying/fertilizing eggs just before I brought them home.

Great start so far and it's building my confidence as a fish keeper!
