Which light for low/medium tech? 12" cube

12x12x12

the light will be about 15" from substrate. I want a low to medium tech.

should I go with fugeray-r 10"

or

Archaea LED light fixture 12" (clamp-on) All white LED

or

better clip on light?

I went with the Finnex FugeRay-R on my 12" cube. No water yet so I can't say how it works with plants, but from the chart, it's definitely low to low/medium...

Red lights only...

I am thinking the fugeray-r 10"

the archaea seems it would be too weak? 15" above substrate

Something about the Fugeray-R makes me think the lighting will be too weak but I'm not sure yet....I'm not sure if Lowe's PAR values are based off of air or water. Either way, you're looking at decent light in the middle of the tank and half that at the edges.

Archea will barely give you low light.

I'm with freph on the R. Stick with the 12" Fugeray. They're easy to suspend above the tank if you don't want a fixture resting on the glass.

The design of the R concerns me, as the electrical equipment is placed right at water level.

I guess barring overfilling the tank or dumping water on the light during topoff/WC's, it should be ok. That said, next tank will be high-tech so I'll be looking at something different.

I'd like to use a Fennix if there's one that will provide high enough PAR. The tank I want is going to be 24" wide and 14.5" tall. I can't afford ADA stuff so I'd like to go Finnex if possible, or I'll maybe consider DIY LED if I can't find something affordable.
