How do I know when to change my bulbs?

I made a mistake.
I should have written the date of install on the bulb. I have two T8 6500K bulbs. One needs changed, the other does not. Is there any quick way to visually tell the older bulb from the newer bulb?

Hello ben...

Florescent bulbs will easily last a year. If you can estimate the month you bought them, then they'll be good until that time the following year. I use these basic 6500K bulbs from the hardware store in my low light, planted tanks and have used some of them more than a year. The plants don't seem care if the bulbs run a bit longer.

Cool thanks, one of them I have had a year and the other 6 months. My water has been a bit cloudy, completely uncommon in my tank. I have changed nothing in my regimine. I am left with the possibility of being at the edge of perfect balance, but having a bulb not at peak performance might be shifting the balance in the favor of the algea. BTW None of my water parameters are off.
