Roseate bulb -> Diatoms

Anyone have a problem with a roseate bulb causing brown diatoms?

I've had 2 different t5 HO fixtures with roseate bulbs, and have never had a problem with brown diatoms. It took me a little while to get used to the colour difference compared to a daylight or 10,000 k bulb but since then have noticed some awesome colours in my plants and fish.

gotcha! I'm having a problem with them and I read somewhere that it could be the roseate bulb so I was just seeing if some other people had this problem

If you switched from different bulbs, the change in light levels might have caused an imbalance leading to the diatoms. They should disappear after a few weeks if that was the case.

Excess silicates are said to favor diatoms, something to check into.
