Second canister for 75 Gallon

One of my old Rena XP3's has finally quit working and I need to get a replacement for it. My 75 currently has a 2217 on it right now. I need another canister for more flow and also as a backup. I don't know if I really want another Rena since I found the flow on the XP3 to alright considering what they rated it for. Should I go with another 2217 and would that be enough? What canisters do you all use on your 75 gallon tanks? I'd like to stay under $200 for this second canister, that's why I'm thinking another 2217. If I did that though, I'm considering not even putting the eheim bio media in it since the other canister has some and I don't think the tank really needs that much bio media. But anyway, let me know what you guys recommend. It is just a low-medium light tank, no CO2. Lots of basic plants and home to mainly breeding pair of angels and a school of 9 roselines currently.

i have a jbj canister filter with UV and a ehime 2213 on my 75g. the jbj work fine i have 2 of them. i believe the sunsun filters are close to the same. i havnt used the sunsun's but have heard a lot of people like them, especially for the price.

here is a link to the jbj...

when i bought my jbj's they were on sale so if you cant find them cheaper get a sunsun. here is a link to them...

CFS-500 or 700 (if you want the added UV filter, more media capacity, and see through canister shell). Best bang for the buck filters out there. Polishes water way better than any Eheim within the same spec range.

I've been running a 500 on my 65G for a good while now with zero issues.

I am not a fan of SunSun.
You can find Eheim 2075 for $200 on line.

I really don't think I want to use any off name brands like sun sun or odyssea. I like something that has been around longer and a bit more reputable with customer service.

If you think Eheims are quiet, CFS are just as quiet.

thanks speedie i never knew if i could trust those cfs filters now if i need a new filter ill give them a try...

well if no off brand filter then ehime is the way to go... i like my fluval fx5 but never used the smaller fluvals and there more expensive.

either way with 2 canisters your tank should have plenty of filtration.

I thought the two 2217's should be pretty decent. Just was considering maybe something else with just a bit more oomph so to speak. Lol

Big Al's for the Eheim 2217 with 10% off code would be about about $126. If you're wanting another 2217

I'll echo speedie with a vote for the cfs. I have a 700 on my 90 gallon works great, and super quiet.
