No oebt breed true I have heard even the beni ones do not

Also if you are willing to spend $100 to start oebt colony another $100 for an ro/di unit shouldn't be an issue. Even with amazing tap I would want to use ro/di just so you know nothing funky is in the water. I couldn't even keep neos alive in my tap but since switching to rodi I have had great success. Heck you can get a unit from for like $70.
I think a little more research is necessary if you think you can start with a pair. Most people who start a colony do so with a minimum of 10. They just really are not something you can be cheap with.

Maybe so. Can you give me a link? The only one I found was the portable one... for $68 shipped.

Also should I get an RO or RODI, which is slightly more expensive.
How I feel about non-planted aquariums.
