Drop checker, ph solution and control solution

I got a second hand deop checker with the CO2 kit that I got off of the for sale forum.

I was wondering if someone could guestimate the volumes for these two solutions since I can't find them online.

Thanks in advance.Click image for larger version

I'm not sure what you are asking, but to use those solutions, fill the drop checker bubble about half full of the 4dKH solution, add 2-3 drops of the pH test solution, and you are ready. The drop checker should be very blue before you put it in the tank. If it is any other color, use your regular pH test kit low range solution instead of the pH test solution you received.

That's exactly what I needed to know. I found online (on the description of an eBay item) something similar: 3/4 of solution, 4-5 drops.

I just don't want to have a concentration that is so high that when it turns green, the fish is dead.

The pH testing reagent you received should work fine, as it is bromothymol blue.

This will not happen, provided that you are using a 4 dkH reference solution; if you are (say) using a higher dkH reference solution, it will require a higher CO2 concentration before turning green.

Default Drop checker, ph solution and control solution

I did not receive anything with the 4DKP solution.

So this is what I got after aprox. 3 hours of CO2 on, 1 hour of lights on and 2 hours of checker in(using API Ph testing solution):

Did that solution turn a strong blue color before you put it in the tank? All drop checkers react fastest if you fill the bulb so the liquid in them has the maximum of surface area, which means about half full.

Your photo in your previous message shows a bottle of 4 dkH reference solution.

Looks fine to me (the colouration is a little dark; how many drops of the bromothymol blue did you add? You can add fewer drops if you are finding the colour too opaque and difficult to read).
