4 x 39 Watt T5 HO Lights

I am going to have made a custom retro fit for my canopy, don't have time to do wire stuff on my own so on.

The 4 bulbs will staggered as the tank is 48 x 18 x 25.

Not sure how long the bulbs are only know they are 49 watts. The retro fit will be about 6 inches wide I am told. it will sit mostly in center, though about 6 inches back from the front because my canopy flips up.

Do you guys think this will be a enough and OK as high light? I plan to plant heavy and I have high pressure CO2. Or do I need to have them add 2 more bulbs?

I only have 47 1/4 to work with in my canopy that why I have to go with retrofit and need it custom made.

If the reflectors are good four bulbs should be more than enough. 39w bulbs are just shy of three feet long.

I don't know much about the refelectors, I will have to ask. Catalina Aquarium is going to make it for me, so I doubt they would use crappy ones. I just don't want to get it wrong since I have to make it custom with the amount of bulbs. I assume staggered should still give me enough light?

They use really good ones, you're buying from a good place. Be sure to post pics once you get it installed.

Why don't you just get a 4 foot fixture?

I see.

Do you need the canopy? I prefer open tops and if that's an option, you can get a 4 foot fishneedit fixture with bulbs for probably around $150. They're not the greatest but I've been using one for a year with no issues. Don't know how much your retrofit costs but ghe fixhneedit fixturet might be something to think about.

Yes canopy is needed, as it all oak. No canopy, no tank in living room. Wife picky about living room. The retro fit from catalina aquarium has 4 x 39 watt bulbs that will be staggered and 6 inches wide. It around 200. Money not the worry mostly not sure it enough light.

The reflectors are amazing I have my 3x39W sitting against my wall right now waiting for its tank to come. Is it 25" tall or deep? If its 18" tall its easily high light not too sure about 25" though.

Depending on how high about the aquarium it is and how much substrate you have, I think your going to have around 60 PAR at the substrate. If you want to be safe you can always see if they will build you a 5 bulb fixture and only use 4 if you need it. Don't know how well 5 will fit in the 7"ish fixture they have (my 3 look snug enough for my likings) but I do believe they make 6 bulb ones that they can use the frame for.
