Default 10 Gallon Filter Ideas????

A Aqua Clear HOB is a cheap way to go. If you don't mind to spend some extra money, get a Eheim 2213.

20 oz soda bottle, some cut up straws and an air stone. Diy internal moving bed filter.

If you're looking at going with a canister the ZooMed 501 is pretty good, I think alot of people would say it's better than the rapids mini. Search for reviews on both on here. However, either one might be a little weak for a 10g. I haven't tried this yet but the Finnex 360 says it's bigger and better than either of those two I mentioned, might be worth a try. I would like to try it but getting it here in Canada is... interesting. Other than that, for reliability and longevity go with an eheim.

Eheim 2211 is also an acceptable option.

Although I had a Zoo Med 501 on a 10 gallon and it was one of my favorite tanks, I would recommend larger if a "turtle type" filter is used. Many like the Finnex 360, I would personally try the 511 myself, as my 501 has been ultra reliable and super quiet for years.

If you have a nice stand, I would go with something suited for under the tank. If not, and you want a canister, see above. If you just want a simple low tech tank, I would do an AC 20 or 30. Actually, I would get an AC 50 and an AC 20 or 30 impeller for more media.

Aquaclear. So cheap, so easy to clean and change media. Get a 20 and you water will be well, clear.
