Ideas for a 5.5G


I'm thinking about starting another planted 5.5G with a group of Rosy Loaches and a school of nano fish. I haven't figured out what the nano school would be, but I would like something not seen very often.
I'm mostly just wondering what kind of equipment I should get. I found these tanks I like on google images, just to give you an idea:





I would really prefer to not use co2, because my room is too cold for DIY, so I would need to do a paintball system, which I would prefer to not do.
Plant suggestions would be lovely, as would fish suggestions. I would really love a dwarf puffer, but I don't think it would like the loaches.

All suggestions, comments, and tips are appreciated

And I have absolutely no clue about the nano fish school...

Nano fish for that 5.5 gal - consider a school of 8-12 Boraras Brigittae (Chili Rasboras) or Boraras Maculatus. Google them for images/descriptions. Alternatively, 6-8 Endlers.
Pool filter sand for substrate - a small pice of interestingly-shaped driftwood, with 3-4 Anubias attached to it. And one dwarf amazon sword, or a few corkscrew vals.

Thank you for the aquascaping ideas! What kind of anubias would you suggest?

Anubias nana would be perfect, there are a few types "petite" "golden"
