Where can a newbie get plants?
(If I posted this in the wrong place, I appologize!)
Newbie here, joined not too long ago. Wife and I are trying to go from a "generic" lightly planted tank (aponogetons and odd swords) to a larger, more lush looking tank. What I've got so far:
The big issue is that our local LFSs don't carry a lot of plants. We have Petco, and then a few non-chain stores. Can anyone recommend a few online store that sells a great variety of plants? I keep running into Tropica and some others, but they don't sell to the US. Basically, looking for some good stores that you folks frequent, and that are either based in North America, or ship to the US. Also, I welcome any suggestions that you might think would be helpful. Thanks in advance! |

I would recommend checking out the for sale section here. There are a few members who sell a good variety of plants and some members who will sell clippings from their tanks. It's usually a lot easier on your wallet for shipping and you'll know what you're getting.

Defiantly look at the RAOK and For Sale sections on the forum, great place to get plants. Always cheaper then buying them at a store.

The reason i choose the 1 i did is because i had a premade list of plants i wanted & they had everthing i wanted instock.

For sale section here, plus:
http://www.liveaquaria.com http://www.extraplant.us Warning - shipping is pretty high at all the online stores I've come across. If you're buying a bunch of plants at once it's not so bad, but buying just one $5 plant can cost you $25 at some places. |

I've ordered plants and inverts/shrimp from AZGardens before but they aren't my first choice due to the high cost of shipping (unless you're buying large quantities) and their habit of substituting items without notice.
First place I look is generally here or a local group (for me, that's AAPE), followed by Aquabid. |
