Where is the best place to buy aquarium plants from? I have been buying from my local fish stores, but if I can find a better price I would buy elsewhere.

Stay away from most big retail stores. You might get lucky and have a decent true local store with better stuff.

I got some plants from Petco that weren't bad. But I had to sort through a lot of bad.

They said no filtration period due to the motor could fail and catch fire...I know, one in a gazillion chance!

Here is what I have running at my office. No filters, pumps, heaters, etc. I just have a desk lamp on a timer. Been running for 8 months so far.

mmm once every two weeks or so i would say. I've got NPT's at my house that have lower bioloads and they only get changed monthly.
