Pond fish ID, possible livebearer


The pond by my school has a bunch of fish in it. They look to be livebearers, but I can't tell. Any thoughts?

Mosquito fish, Gambusia affinis probably. They're put there by your local government to eat those pesky mosquito larvae.

Nope, different fish entirely. Guppies are Poecilia Reticulata. They"re both live bearers, though, and the females certainly look similar.

Around here, it would be almost certainly be Gambusia affinus. (I live in Santa Barbara, just a bit south of the OP.)
