Stef's Betta Garden
I have been working on my betta garden for 2 months now. Not quite completed, but getting there. I am an artist, and I spend a good portion of my time here.
I thought putting a betta garden in would be inspirational, but it can be kind of distracting, too. ![]() Barracks are being worked on by DarkCobra, and will go under the last white shelf, along with added lighting. He put the shelving unit in, and made the white shelf that is under the picket fence. This raises the plants and mini nanos to better visibility. (Rams horn snails are in the nanos) The fish get plenty of attention, and daily water checks. (okay-I talk to them, too. Hey-it works for plants) Hanging vase nano: ![]() White picket fence from Lowes garden center makes a perfect backdrop and plant lattice. ![]() Assorted air plants are easy to keep. ![]() Female betta/angelfish sorority. Where the gals hang out. ![]() There's a lot that can be done in small spaces -Stef* |

I like the eclectic look. The pillow case "Lamp shade" on the 4' stoplight...nice touch.

Beautiful and very different. I can see how it would be distracting. Lots to look to at.

Not a pillow case, but close. I cut an old twin bed sheet. The lights are very bright and it cuts down the glare. The fish have plastic needlepoint mesh over their tanks/bowls and banana leaves and plants. I don't want to wear sunglasses or a straw hat to paint. It's only temporary until I can come up with an alternative. Maybe drape Spanish moss off it? (lol) Open to suggestions

It looks a lot better that what I've used in the past.... spaceblacket. It cut the glare and had a slight reflective effect. Of course that was down in my fish dungeon/cellar.

Maybe mosquito netting with silk plants attached and a little spanish moss thrown in? Not too much moss, because it can shed, and I don't want to spray it 'cause a fragment might drift down in a tank or something and be toxic. I'd like real plants, but not practical on top of a light. How did I get that from "spaceblanket?" Maybe Farscape or Lexx lingering in my subconscience? -Stef* |
