Question

Does trimming moss promote growth?

Question in title: would trimming back Taiwan moss/java moss promote neater growth, or would it simply continue growing (messily) at the usual pace?

Yes. I've noticed the java moss it have tied to a piece of wood grows all in the same direction and denser the more I cut it. If you have some sort of flow going across it, it will all grow in the direction of the flow and when you trim it it gets more dense at the base. just cut off the stringy bits
