Can shrimp get knocked out?

I was feeding my crs and one of my otos zipped by and accidentally smacked one of the babies and it went belly up and didn't move for 5 minutes. I can't believe I witnessed this.. Came back later and the baby shrimp is right side up and didn't move much from where it got blasted. I'm sure playing dead equals free food in the wild, so I'm assuming it got knocked out. Anyone experience something similar? I thought it was kind of funny and counted it as a loss for being a weak shrimpy and my oto culled it for me.

Well when I first started with CRS i spiked Nitrates on them and they all went belly up kind of twitching... I moved a bunch to a hospital tank and a hour later most came back from being belly up twitching to being fine... I think stress puts them into a shock state

Thanks sbarbee54, I guess it would be the equivalent to us getting hit by a car. The oto did one of those quick turn arounds and slapped the baby a few inches into the dwarf hair grass. It is now hiding in the grass. lol, lights out! poor guy didn't see it coming..

Yep...I've actually seen it happen a few times with my Otos. Talk about getting sucker punched.

Makes me wonder if I killed my berried momma...
I saw her looking full with color just upside down with legs up, I poked her with my tongs and she didn't move. Hope she was dead... for once. At least the eggs are safe!
