Handy, Dandy, Duckweed Remover
Someone has likely made one of these, but I've never seen a pic of it, so here's a pic of mine. I removed the netting from a fish net and replaced it with a piece of women's nylon hosery.
The nylon is stretched over the wire and tied. You just need to get the nylon soaked in the tank water and skim the duckweed to one end of the tank and drop underneath the weed you've collected and remove it. I knock the skimmer against the inside of a 5 gallon bucket and rinse the bucket out in the sink. The weed goes into the garbage disposal and is ground up. Nothing to clog the pipes or grow somewhere in the plumbing. The little skimmer tool works great. B

Because it is duckweed, I believe to keep a duck in your tank or use weed remover are the best way to remove it.
 Some fish eat duckweed, emperor tetra, congo tetra..

I've heard that you can't cultivate duckweed in a goldfish tank, they eat it all.

Putting a duck in a tank with duckweed, only results in a high duck that has the munchies, and craves Cheetos.
 Goldfish always have the munchies, and I tried in vain to keep a population of duckweed in a tank with a single goldfish. It would eat every last bit, no matter how much I put in.

Goldfish DO eat the duckweed!
I used to have them, and went to my neighbors pond to get them duckweed treats!

Nice. I've used them for filter bags too.
Oh, and someone watches too much Blues Clues with their kids...oh wait, it's me.
