Ahhhh, I recall that threads in the Planted Tank FAQ might not be editable.

I will raise this issue with the forum administrators to see if they can take a look.

Thanks for the report.

Can edit my posts! Thanks!
But still think controlled CO2 is the only way to go if you can afford it!

Have you consulted the manual?

Ah the guy who sold it to me must have not known how to calibrate it. Nor did it have a manual. He was pointing to the screws under the cover on the bottom. Which are for the wires that power it. I got it calibrated thanks to ya appreciate it

The link found in the main post for... sumoregulator.[censored]com leads to a "page not found" error message. Google Chrome. Just FYI.

Thanks for letting me know; the article is quite a bit outdated, so sometimes companies go out of business/change their information, etc.

I have a question for the experts! I'm new to this game. I've got a 300 gallon tank/sump combination with dual overflows. I've got a fancy CO2 regulator that is digital that gives you the bubble count running into a CO2 reactor that dumps into my sump. The CO2 is controlled via my APEX controller. My PH out of the tap is 7.8, my TDS is right around 35 and my water is soft with a KH of 2.
Using my drop checker as a guide I drilled down my PH to 6.5 with the CO2 injection to get my drop checker to show a solid green color. The CO2 pressure is set to 10psi with a bubble count of one per second. It stuggles to get the PH at 6.5 even running at that high rate.
The problem is went through a 20lb cylinder of CO2 in two weeks to maintain the CO2 at a good green color with the drop checker.
My theory is that my dual overflows along with the line drop to my basement sump is creating a large amount of aeration that may be taking the CO2 out of the water as quick as I'm injecting it.
Looking for some advice from you folks on just what you think my issue is? Should I skip the C02 drop checker and just try to drive my PH down to 7 and provide some CO2 for the plants but not have to expend so much gas? What about flow in the reactor, just how much flow do you want through that?
Thanks, Jerry.

For a 300 gallon aquarium, 1 bubble a second is not particularly high.

While your overflows probably have something to do with it (i.e. offgassing of your CO2 is driven favorably by the overflow), I feel that your current injection rate is still too slow to empty a 20 pound cylinder in two weeks.

Most likely, you have a leak somewhere. Have you double (and triple) checked your entire system with soapy water for leaks?

I agree with DB and you have a leak.
I would not get rid of the drop checker; however. You need the pH change and the green color in your DC to be sure your controller is working OK.
You need to calibrate your controller at least in the beginning and use 4.0 deg KH water in your DC. Once set up, you can pretty much forget them unless one or the other changes.

I've calibrated the probe with 4.0 and 7.0. I'm thinking like you guys that I must have a leak somewhere to lose that much gas. I'll refill the tank and give it another try checking for any leaks. I'll report back what I find. Thanks, Jerry.

In my 85 gal tank I have inline CO2 diffuser on canister filters output pipe. I pump in a lot of CO2 - I cannot count the boules anymore - it goes so fast. Tank is practically filled with small CO2 bubbles.
Yet, I still get hair algae which makes me assume my CO2 is too low. I am dosing EI and can rule out nutrients as a cause of algae. So I am looking more into CO2 now.
Since I can see bubbles everywhere and I am like 30 bps or so (well, cannot count that fast) - I am wondering what's wrong here.
In your experience: is such high bps rate normal? My fish are doing fine tho ( no deaths at all)
Do you have any experience with inline CO2 diffuser? If yes, please share.
Many thanks
