Does a 20 Watt Bio-Lux fluorescent tube + 4x10 watt light enough for a 45 gallon planted tank?

Optimal would be @3wpg or 135watts of a flourecent type lamp.

But before that it's about the power. "Magic" plant bulbs don't work if there is not enough power. You are looking at 60 watts. That's 1.3 watts per gallon. If you define Optimal as keeping Java Moss and Java fern alive then it will work. wellbiz pretty much hit the nail on the head. I would say at a minimum you would want 90 watts on the tank.
