EEEEEEEE! Albino Cory Cats Spawning!

I got up this morning and spent a few minutes staring at my tank (like I always do). I noticed my Cory Cats were acting very strange. Frantic swimming against the glass and completely frenzied. Fearing that somehow I had crashed my bio filter, I immediate did a water test, which checked out good. While focusing on the cats for a few minutes looking for any other signs of parasite or distress, suddenly they started acting like my Pleco, sticking to the wall while sucking at a spot of algae on the glass. When they moved... EGGS!

For the time being, I blocked off the spot making it almost impossible to get to until I can figure out what to do with the eggs. Looks like I have about 15 eggs.

I suppose this is a good sign that the tank is well balanced and the inhabitants are happy with the current living conditions?

Make sure that you either scrape them off the glass and put them in a small tank with filtration or remove all the fish from that tank(leave nothing but the eggs) because the fish will eat them. Had my bad experience last week when I didn't do this and ended up with the eggs getting eaten by my guppies.

I would like to, but lack the resources to do either of those options.

I'm thinking that I may just scrape the eggs off into a small jar, then float the jar in the tank to avoid temperature shock.

Currently, there is less than 1/8" of space between my fake driftwood decoration and the 'egg patch', making it impossible for most creatures in my tank to get to the eggs.

The cories will eat the eggs as fast as they can find them, or at least my sterbai do. I have a fry tank that I scrape eggs into if I can get them before the cories. Since you don't have that option you can make shift it with a small, squarish tupperware container. Drill a lot of very small holes for water movement, then float it on top of the tank. Scrape the eggs with a fresh razor into the floating container. Beware that the eggs are very sticky.

If the eggs hatch you can let the fry float to the bottom. Keeping them alive might be tricky with their food requirements. When I move eggs to my fry tank, I squeeze the gunk out of a couple of sponges from the filters on the tank with the parent fish right into the fry tank. Lots of good mulm and aufwuchs for the babies.

Floating them in a container is perfect. Grindal worms will meet all of your feeding needs, from fry cory to adult.

I hatch my sterbai eggs in a breeder box now and feed them micro worms twice a day. Occasionally I feed them fry flakes and they love it. They should hatch in about 4 days and then they will live off their egg sacks for 2 days. That's when it's critical to make sure they eat. They will be small and had to see when they hatch.

So, I made a "safebox" for the cory eggs using a glass jar. I ran a tube to feed air into the bottom and have another hole in the lid for venting. I put polyfil in the top of the jar to prevent infiltration/escape. All looks good so far, and a number of the eggs are turning brownish, which appears to be the sign of healthy developing eggs.

While I'm fretting over this, I notice something else in my tank... two fry. Probably from my mollies. They are excellent hiders, and have been camping out really well in the bacopa plants.

I suppose this means my tank is really doing well?

After having the fry survive the night in my makeshift spaghetti sauce breeder box, I decided to go ahead and spend some money on a real hanging box.

I'm thinking I may drop the Molly in there for about 24 hours to see if she is gonna produce any more. She still looks... 'fluffy'.
