SQUALOR TO SCHOLAR'S MISSION
“I’ll make them leaders here–not great leaders, the greatest.”
–Sister Pushpa, Principal of the Carmel Convent School

The mission of the Squalor to Scholar Program is to provide at-risk slum children exhibiting high potential with educational opportunities beyond their wildest dreams. As Sister Pushpa suggests, we aren’t interested in mediocrity. Our goal is not just to give children an education, but to give them the best possible education.

Most of the children receiving our support were on a predestined path toward young marriages, lifelong illiteracy, and lives spent toiling in the urban slums of Northern India. With your donations, our organization, and the work of many sisters, teachers, and volunteers, they will now have the opportunity to become doctors, engineers, world leaders, or anything else they strive to achieve.

Knowledge is the most important and transformative gift you can give to a child here. It will not only revolutionize their entire lives, but the lives of their families, neighbors, and communities for generations to come. Education, especially of frequently overlooked females, is the only solution to this endless cycle of poverty and illiteracy.

With your help, who will these precious and precocious children become? Where will they go? What will they do? What if they don’t just become great leaders, but the greatest?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

John Schupbach is an alumnus of my high school who has done some absolutely incredible volunteer work in India. He started an organization called Squalor to Scholar, which aims to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children living in slums who otherwise would never attend a single day of school in their entire lives. He has dedicated much of his time, passion, and hard work into giving these children a chance at a better life through education, and he could really use your help to give this incredible opportunity to more bright and talented children!

The award for getting the most votes (first place) is $5,000 to put towards the winner's organization. $5,000 would allow up to 20 promising new students to be enrolled in this school (just $250/child!).

If you would like to learn more about his organization, please visit his website: http://www.squalortoscholar.org/
TONS of photos and up-to-date information can be found on his blog: http://johnschupbach.wordpress.com/

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Voted (with all four of my emails)! Love to see things like this. This is what India needs to be brought up to where it should be in the world in terms of education, health, and standard of living for all. Props to your friend.
