Yellow/Cherry Shrimp interbreeding

Hello everyone. I have a few shrimp questions. I recently set up a 10 gallon cherry shrimp tank. After my tank cycled I ordered a dozen shrimp from ebay and purchased 5 more at my lfs. They are doing very good and have already had their first round of babies.
One of them from the lfs is a yellow shrimp. I think its the same species just a yellow variation, and it looks like a male. He's the only yellow shrimp in the tank along with all the cherries. Does anyone know what will happen if this yellow shrimp breeds with a red one? Id like to breed more of the yellow ones but do I also need a yellow female?
Also I bought a log with a moss looking algae on it that the shrimp really like grazing in. Anyone know what type of algae this is?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have any other images of the yellow shrimp? It's tough to tell from the photo whether or not it's the same species as your Cherry. If it's the same species, they'll breed and the resulting offspring will vary from wild-type to generally splotchy.

The moss/algae looks like cladophora - the stuff Marimo Balls are made of. But I could be mistaken, as I'm accessing via my phone at the moment.

it is probably a cross from yellow and cherry shrimp and over time babies will probably end up brown or splotchy

+1 on both!

That Yellow looks like a mix of a RCS and Yellow that turned out to be nice.
