Oebt pic
Just wanted to share a picture of my OEBT eating from their new glass feeding dish. Much easier to keep the food all in one place and out of the substrate. Highly recommended, it took me almost 2 years to realize their importance in a shrimp tank.

Thanks, 2 years ago I started with 10, now I have too many to even possibly count. I'm removing all the cherries from the tank. Slowly but surely, they will have the whole 55 gallons to themselves.

Nice job man! Hope I have the same luck. I have 10 myself, and 5 are berried, so fingers crossed. 2 of those are 3 weeks in so I should find out soon enough lol.

I think the OEBT do much better in a fully mature tank. Before i put them in their current home, their tank was inhabited by hundreds of live bearers for a year or so. I put the light blues and blondes in a 27 gallon that was running for about 4 months with cherry shrimp before they were added, they didnt breed or even look healthy for a few months, now they are breeding, that tank has been running for about a year now.

Tank parameters and what substrate are you using? RO water? What to remineralize if so? I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I can't even get super tigers to work. No issue with PFR's or even yellow neos.

Ph is 7.0. Substrate is a mix of regular rocks from a pet store and a little fss, and a little carribean sea black sand, tank has tons of driftwood and moss. I used to do 50/50 tap and ro. Now i do all ro and remineralize to about 200 tds with salty shrimp GH. But i have used fluval shrimp remineralizer and mosura mineral plus ultra. I keep my temp as liw as possible which fluctuates between 68 in the winter, and 72 in the summer. The cooler the better from my experience.

How about water change amount and frequency? I do two water changes a week around 20-25% a piece, maybe a little less. I tried to do less and I lost the only 2 I have lost. Otherwise they seemed to be doing great. I got them as juvies and within like a month and a half I saw my first saddles. They got berried next molt and every other female has gotten berried as soon as they were ready. So I would say they are happy lol.
