Keeping blue rili with sakura?
Hi, I recently got 6 blue rili from my lfs. But in my tank, there is 4 sakura and 1 red rili in my tank. If I add them to my tank and it breeds with each other will its offspring look strange and/or revert back to wild form? Please help.

they will hybridize if that's what you are referring to. The clear midsection is a dominant trait and will likely remain in f1. as for whether they will revert back to wild form, its less likely. you are more likely to see them become clearish over the generations.

Rili were derived from Cherry, they were a color mutation, so the fact that they are the same shrimp means that crossing them won't cause any ill effects like them reverting as is the case when mixing cherries and yellows/orange. I've been told that crossing Rili with high grade cherries strengthens the Rili line especially if the red coloration is less than stellar, but on the other end it also weakens the Cherries.
Example: Crossing Supreme red x Rili. Resulting offspring = Red Rili with very nice red headgear and Normal-High grade looking Cherry. |
