I finally got around to starting my nano tank. I want to grow it out emersed for the mean time.

I will embed the images later on. Just thought it was better to get something done than nothing.

I added some more stems of Micranthemum umbrosum. Its been growing well, not sure I will keep it though. I added 1 node of pennywort and 1 stem of hydro japan that had 3 leafs, 2 weeks ago.

The marsalia is growing weirdly. I see some stalks that show the tall 4 leaf clover, some tall 2 leaf, some short 4 leaf-- all from the same strand.
How do i encourage it to stay short and spread?

In the lower right corner I planted Lilaeopsis brasiliensis, which hasn't died but hasn't taken off yet.

The top right is 3 stems of some hygro. To the left is 1 stem of myrio matt that melted and converted to emersed. And there are 3 crypts that I dont remember the species of.

Thanks. Its growing much slower than I wanted.
I don't know about the scape yet. It could look nice when the MM and grass fills in, but it could take 5+ months. But then again that's part of the fun.

Not so sure about the crypts location. I don't know which species they are so they might get too big. I'll have to see once they melt after I fill it with water.
I should probably also remove the pennywort as the leaves get huge in my regular tank and would look completely out of proportion here.

Thanks, it's definitely better than I thought it would be. I will put some shrimp in there eventually; probably some colored neos.

Everything is growing. Added some 4-5 rotala stems, 3 stargrass, some glosso.
I dont know what to do with the foreground. Everything is taller than what would look amazing for the scale. I suppose only HC would give the right scale--and i dont have it.

Also I think I have way too many species for such a small tank. Particularly in the foreground. What would be best? --The weird growing marsalia, glosso, or the brazilian microsword (in this scale not so micro).

Oh and I put a few blades of hair grass that will take months to grow in.

The Glosso or Baby tears would grow best as foreground, as they tend to stay low to the ground and grow in a compact form. They do best with a good amount of lighting, and spread rather quickly once established.
